Shared Between Us

I completed this painting a little while ago for the Share One Planet Competition: [link]

You had to select a certain type of animal to illustrate. I chose the Platalea minor which is a black-faced spoonbill.

In keeping with the guidelines of the "Harmony" category, I wanted to illustrate the action of sharing the ecosystem. Water is a symbol of life in this painting and I highlighted the idea that water sustains all life forms and is something shared on this planet between animals and humans. I wanted to reflect these two species existing in harmony without threat to one another - so close in proximity and seeming comfortable.
